When photographing corporate headshots, it is important to understand the style your client is after. I always ask for examples of images they are drawn to. Make sure to ask what type of emotions they want people to feel when they view their image for the first time. Remember in this high-tech world your headshot is essentially your first impression or digital handshake. It’s important to spend time understanding how they plan to use the images and what industry they are in. Why is it that they need a new headshot? Is it to update their social media accounts or is it going to be used in some sort of marketing campaign? These important questions could take the headshot into another direction similar to a lifestyle or branding session. Some executives might want to mimic the current company style.
Do they want their headshot to be in color or black and white?
Would they like to be seated or standing? Are they open to using props?
Would they like an environmental portrait. This would be taken where they work. You can get creative with this type of portrait or you can keep it simple and use their office.
Providing your client with a variety of poses during their branding or headshot session gives them multiple options.
